Equitation

A weekend in Washington DC, that most symbolic of American cities.
There we found monstruous cupids . . .

nudely draped women embracing empty cartouches . . .

men, women, and eagles poised, pointing, and posturing . . .

in solitude . . .

and in company.

As expected, men were engaged in equitation.

Including, in an obscure corner of the National Gallery, General Bonaparte.
